Visitation.
There are many worries that visitors think about before they enter the gated area of Sing Sing Correctional Facility. Most of the families that come to visit the prison are from very poor communities. Most of the time multiple forms of transportation has to be used to reach their final destination in Ossining. When visitors arrive the computers are checked to be sure that the inmate that they wish to see are still incarcerated in that prison, inmates are often transferred to other maximum security prisons. There are only a few hours where visitors are allowed into the correctional facility to visit their loved ones. Also there are a few rules that must be followed when entering the prison. Forms of identification must be showed no matter the age of the visitor. A driver’s license is showed and also birth certificates are checked for children. All metal must be removed and locked up before entering the main halls. Finally the clothing of the visitors are checked to be sure that it is appropriate. No revealing clothing may be worn, spaghetti straps, low necklines, exposed midriffs, short skirts or skirts with a slit in it are also prohibited.
