Brutal Tendencies
There are two famous punishments that the guards would do to the inmates back when the prison was new in the 1800’s. One of the forms of abuse that the inmates experienced was known as a bath. This is when the prisoner is tired to a chair, and a piece of wood is attached around his neck. Water was poured over the prisoner’s head. The water levels would rise so high that it would cover the prisoner’s chin and mouth. The next form of abuse that the inmates would go through is called bucking. The prisoner is hung upside down for a long period of time. How bucking would work is a wood bar was put between the prisoner’s arms and legs, once the bar was in the right place he would be lifted and would start to hang upside down. Once in a while the guards would turn the inmate to be right side up to avoid the prisoner from passing out.
